Job Description

The CFO of SAPRO will have the primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations. The successful candidate will need to ensure SAPRO accounting procedures and reporting conforms to the US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team
  • Providing strategic recommendations to the CEO’s and members of the executive management team
  • Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting
  • Establish financial objectives, accounting policies, and procedures organization-wide
  • Advising on long-term business and financial planning, financial modelling and projections and providing strategic input on driving better operational results, with a strong focus on supporting revenue generation
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance and projections on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Cash management – bank negotiations, forecasts, investments and improvement of processes, actively seek opportunities for savings
  • Risk management – ensure there is adequate insurance coverage globally at the best price; reviews and appraises acquisitions accounting for maintenance and leases
  • Directs the tax accounting activity, ensuring compliance with legislation and various tax returns and reports are filed appropriately, advising on tax incentives and setting up of global group tax structures
  • Understand and implement Broad Based Black Economic Employment Equity (BBBEEE) regulations as per South African requirements
  • Implement and automate best of breed accounting system, software and business processes
  • Offshore secondments cost management (develop efficient processes with suppliers and customers to maximize return on secondments)
  • Develop strong relationships, provide mentorship and growth opportunities for internal team members.
  • Establishing and developing relations with clients, external partners, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Help develop new product streams, implement pricing strategies and assess the viability of new products
  • Strong data analytics skills, large data, storage, configuration and value extraction
  • Assess contractual arrangements from a financial perspective
  • Compliance with international banking and transfer pricing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • 12+ years of experience in the financial sector
  • Experience with Public Company accounting is preferred
  • Ability to manage and mentor a team
  • Impeccable Excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to present to the board, investors, etc.
  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
  • A solid understanding and implementation of financial metrics and accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
  • US Tax exposure and experience preferred

Preferred:

  • Experience working in international markets
  • Experience leading teams through a quick growth scale
  • An MBA or equivalent graduate degree
